Travelling Exhibition Production – Panels, SEG Frames, 3D Replicas and Transport Between Cities

What to build an exhibition from when it has to travel

A travelling exhibition has different priorities from a permanent one. Every element is packed, transported, unpacked and installed many times, often by local staff who have never seen it before. Good travelling exhibition production therefore starts with three questions:

  • Weight and volume: how much space the exhibition takes in a van and whether two people can carry each part.
  • Assembly: whether it goes up without tools and without specialist installers.
  • Changeability: which parts change per venue, such as language, venue logos or a local section.

Modular frame systems with fabric graphics answer all three better than heavy rigid panels. Rigid panels still make sense for objects, captions and parts that need a hard surface.

Panels: boards, SEG fabric and frames

ElementIndicative price, net
SEG frame module 100 × 230 cm with fabric graphicfrom approx. €160
Replacement fabric graphic for the modulefrom approx. €65
Foam PVC 5 mm with UV printapprox. €26–39 per m²
Honeycomb board 10 mm with UV printapprox. €30–45 per m²
3D modelling and model preparationapprox. €45 per hour
3D printing time, large-format printerapprox. €26 per hour

We produce exhibition panels in several systems:

Fabric is printed with LED UV ink for textiles or by dye-sublimation, and boards on UV printers up to 3.2 m wide without joins.

How we workFrom idea to installation — 5 steps
  1. 01Brief

Description, sizes, site photos and deadline — a few sentences are enough.

  2. 02Design and quote

Our designers prepare artwork or a visualisation and you get a price.

  3. 03Approval

You approve the design; for brand colours we provide a proof.

  4. 04Production

35+ machines in our own plant in Poland: 3.2 m UV print, CNC, laser, 3D, sewing.

  5. 05Installation or delivery

Own crews and vehicles across Europe, partner network, couriers worldwide.

Replicas and models from 3D printing and 3D scanning

Original objects often cannot travel. A replica can. We 3D-scan objects or use existing 3D models, prepare them in our studio and print them on a farm of 7 3D printers, including a large-format printer for bigger pieces. Replicas can be painted and finished for display, or left in a neutral colour as touchable models for visitors.

The same technology produces scale models of buildings, maps in relief and stands for objects. See 3D scanning, 3D printing from your own file and our guide on mock-ups and models.

Language versions of captions and panels

An exhibition touring several countries usually needs its texts in each language. We split the design into a fixed visual layer and a language layer: images and structure stay, while captions and panel texts change.

  1. You or the curators supply the approved texts for each language.
  2. Our in-house studio sets each version, checks line lengths and diacritics.
  3. Each venue's set is printed and labelled with its language code.
  4. Fabric graphics or caption panels for the next language are sent ahead.

We do not translate or edit curatorial texts. We handle correspondence in all 14 languages of this site, so venue teams can write to us in their own language.

Lead timesHow long it takes
  • 24 h
express printing (UV inks need no drying)
  • approx. 3 days
    standard lead time
  • up to 14 days

Plus courier delivery. Tell us your date — we plan production around it.

Packing and transport between cities

Each element is packed for repeated transport: fabric graphics folded or rolled in labelled bags, frames in bundles, rigid panels protected and packed for transport, replicas padded individually. A packing list shows what goes where, so the next venue can check the delivery and repack at the end.

Our own vans drive across Europe every day; on dedicated transport Germany and Austria are usually reached the next working day, the UK and Barcelona in about 2 days, and Madrid in 2–3 days. Couriers and dedicated couriers cover smaller shipments worldwide. Many venues require fire-rated materials; on request we check the availability of a material with the certificate they ask for.

Prices and how to get a quote

Send us the exhibition concept or layout, the number and size of panels, the list of objects to replicate, the languages and the route with dates. We return indicative prices per element and for transport, and confirm prices before production; complex exhibitions are quoted individually.

Our head office and main production plant are in Wieluń, Poland, where we have been producing since 1991. For permanent installations, see our sector page for museums and galleries.

Questions and answers

Frequently asked questions

Which system is best for a travelling exhibition?

Usually SEG fabric in aluminium frames: light, quick to assemble and easy to update. Rigid panels work for captions and object-related parts.

Can you make replicas of museum objects?

Yes, by 3D scanning the object or using an existing model, then 3D printing and finishing the replica.

Do you translate the exhibition texts?

No. Curators supply the texts; our studio sets each language version and checks the layout.

Can venues reassemble the exhibition themselves?

Yes. Frames assemble without specialist tools, and each element is labelled and listed on a packing list.

Do you supply fire-rated fabrics?

On request we check the availability of a material with the certificate the venue requires.
