A swimming pool is one of the hardest places for advertising and signage. Damp, steam, chlorine, heat, and people walking barefoot without their glasses. A material that lasts ten years in an office can delaminate after one season in a pool hall. So for pools we use non-absorbent boards (Dibond, acrylic, PVC) with stainless steel fixings, and keep paper for the foyer and the ticket desk.
The second issue is regulations and safety. Pool rules, depth markings, no-diving signs and slide rules are required by the operator and its safety staff, and the operator supplies the wording. We make sure it is readable from a distance, durable and in one style throughout the building. For a new facility or after a refurbishment it is best to plan all the signage at once, as a [wayfinding system](/produkty/systemy-informacji-wizualnej) – it works out cheaper than adding signs every few months.
1. Facade, car park, entrance
From outside, a pool is often a large hall with no windows onto the street. The name and opening hours should be visible from the car park, after dark too, because most people come after work.
- Illuminated lettering or light box on the facade→Illuminated letters from approx. €46 net per character, a light box from approx. €320 net per m². In winter it is dark by 4 pm, and the pool is open into the evening.
- Seasonal banner on the outdoor pool fence→Season opening, swimming lessons, prices. A 3 × 1 m banner is approx. €35–40 net depending on material.

2. Ticket desk, foyer and changing rooms
In the foyer people stand in a queue and read everything on the walls. It is the place for prices, the class timetable, pool rules and information about passes. Beyond that the route begins: women’s and men’s changing rooms, lockers, cubicles, showers – here signage must be unambiguous, because a mistake is embarrassing.
- Pool rules and price list at the ticket desk→Dibond with UV print, approx. €35–55 net per m². When prices change we replace one board, not the whole set.
- Changing room, cubicle and shower signs→Large pictograms and text on doors and walls. Acrylic or PVC fixed with adhesive and stainless stand-offs, with nothing that rusts.
- Frosted film for changing room and cubicle glazing→It hides what should be hidden and lets light through. Frosted film is approx. €12–21 net per m², printed or with a cut pattern.
- Floor graphics in the foyer→Arrows “to changing rooms”, “exit”, the queue for the ticket desk. Laid on the dry part of the floor, with R10 anti-slip laminate.
- Roll-up banner with the swimming lesson and aqua aerobics timetable→It stands by the ticket desk for the whole sign-up season and gets a new graphic in September. An 85 × 200 cm roll-up banner is from approx. €55 net.
3. Pool hall and zones
Visibility in the hall is poor: steam, light reflecting off the water, people without glasses. Pictograms and text must be large and high-contrast. By the pools and slides, depth and rules information is the basics – the operator decides the wording and positions with the person responsible for safety; we choose the material.
- Depth markings and prohibition signs by the pools→Numbers and pictograms cut from polymeric vinyl for the wall, or Dibond boards. Polymeric vinyl lasts about 5–7 years.
- Boards with rules for slides, spa pools and saunas→A separate board at each feature: age, height, time, contraindications. The same design as the main pool rules.
- Directional signs to zones: lane pool, leisure pool, saunas, café→In a water park with several zones people get lost, especially on the way back to the changing rooms. A zone colour helps more than text.

4. Walls and the children’s area
Bare tiled or concrete walls are easy to bring to life. In corridors and the toddlers’ area a washable wall mural or vinyl graphic works well, but we install it out of direct reach of water and splashing.
- Washable mural in corridors and the children’s area→An underwater world, a beach, a pool map for children. Washable vinyl wall mural is approx. €18–29 net per m².
- Vinyl wall graphics in the foyer and café→The facility’s logo, slogans, photos from the swimming club’s galas. A quick change of decor without building work.
5. Passes, wristbands, outdoor pool
Wristbands instead of paper tickets make it easier to track time spent and access to zones. At an outdoor pool there is the poolside furniture too: parasols and loungers where the logo appears in every photo.
- Wristbands for visitors→The wristband colour shows the zone or time allowed. We quote for your quantity and type.
- Multi-visit passes and gift vouchers→A 10-swim pass or a voucher for a child’s birthday is an easy sale at the desk. Numbered, on heavy card.
- Branded parasols and loungers at the outdoor pool→3 × 3 m printed parasol from approx. €400 net. A partner’s logo on the parasol is also space for a sponsor.

An example of basic signage for a small pool. The breakdown shows where the figures come from.
| Pool rules, Dibond 100 × 150 cm (1.5 m² × approx. €55) | approx. €85 net |
| Changing room and shower signs, 3 mm acrylic | approx. €43–60 net per m² |
| Stainless steel stand-offs | approx. €2.35 net each |
| Frosted film for cubicle glazing | approx. €12–21 net per m² |
| Washable vinyl wall mural, 4 × 2.5 m wall (10 m²) | approx. €18–29 net per m² |

Indicative net prices; exact quote after a list of rooms, photos and (for a large facility) a site survey.
From our experience — what to watch out for
- Don’t hang anything on paper or foam board in the pool hall. Steam will make it ripple within weeks.
- Use only stainless screws and stand-offs. Ordinary steel leaves rust streaks on the tiles within six months.
- Make pictograms large and text short. Someone without glasses, in steam and with water in their eyes will only read what is several centimetres high.
- Keep pool rules and prices on separate boards. Prices change every year, the rules less often.
- Plan installation for a maintenance shutdown. Adhesive and films then go onto a dry wall, and the crew isn’t working around swimmers.
