Band, full pane or pattern: what to choose
Before asking for a price, decide what you want the film to do. Our conversations with clients point to four typical options:
- Fully frosted pane: private offices, treatment rooms, washrooms, HR rooms. Full privacy, and the light still comes in.
- Privacy band: the most popular choice in open-plan offices and meeting rooms. It screens the desk zone and the faces of seated people, while the top and bottom of the glass stay clear. The room does not feel closed in.
- Band with a cut-out logo or pattern: the company logo, lines, dots, room names. It looks like etched glass and costs little more than the band alone.
- Frosted film with print: a colour logo or graphic on frost, e.g. on the office entrance doors.
On glass walls and doors, a frosted band also has a second job: it makes the glass visible so nobody walks into it (in the UK this is known as glazing manifestation). Talk to whoever is responsible for health and safety about the requirements in your workplace: the rules do not prescribe a single design, the key thing is that the glazing is clearly visible.
Frosted film prices
| Order area | Price per m² | Example |
|---|---|---|
| 1–4 m² | approx. €21 | office door 0.9 × 2 m = 1.8 m² → approx. €38 |
| 5–15 m² | approx. €16 | 1 m band on an 8 m glass wall = 8 m² → approx. €128 |
| 16–49 m² | approx. €14 | an office floor, several rooms → approx. €14 rate |
| 50–99 m² | approx. €13 | an office building, several floors |
| 100 m² and more | approx. €12 | large projects, multi-site networks |
Then there are items that depend on the design:
- cutting patterns, logos and letters into the film: approx. €1.40 net per linear metre of cut line;
- weeding, i.e. removing waste pieces from designs with many small elements: approx. €10/m²;
- application tape (for letters and small elements): approx. €6/m²;
- fitting: a two-person crew at approx. €42 net per hour, minimum 4 hours per visit, plus travel at approx. €1/km both ways from Wieluń, or a partner installer abroad.
The rate per m² depends on the total area in one order. So several rooms ordered together cost less per metre than the same rooms ordered one at a time.

Sample quote: a meeting room
The glass wall of the room is 5 m long, plus a glass door of 1 × 2.1 m. The client wants a band along the whole wall from about 90 to 190 cm high, with the company name cut out, and a frosted door with a clear strip at eye level.
- Band: 5 m × 1 m = 5 m².
- Door: approx. 2 m² (after subtracting the strip and margins).
- Total approx. 7 m² × approx. €16 = approx. €112 net.
- Cut letters and stripes: say approx. 15 lm of cut line × €1.40 = approx. €21.
- Fitting: if it is the only job on the visit, minimum 4 h × €42 = €168 plus travel.
You can see that for a single room, fitting costs more than the film. So for single rooms we often send the film by courier, ready to apply, and for a whole floor we come and do everything in one day.
Fitting frosted film: how it works
We apply frosted film from inside the room using the wet method: we clean and degrease the glass, spray it with water and a drop of detergent, lay the film, position it and squeegee the water out from the centre to the edges. The wet method gives a few minutes to adjust and practically eliminates bubbles. Edges are trimmed on the glass, with a small gap from the seal or bead.
For the first few days, milky spots may be visible under the film: that is residual water, which evaporates on its own. Do not clean the glass for a few days after fitting.
In an office the work is quiet and clean, with no dust, so nobody usually has to leave a room for more than a quarter of an hour. If you want to apply a simple band yourself, instructions are in how to apply vinyl without bubbles.

Frosted film or One Way Vision in an office
We are often asked whether One Way Vision film would be better in an office, "because you can see out". The difference is fundamental:
- frosted film blocks the view both ways at any time of day: the same by day and in the evening with the lights on;
- One Way Vision only works when the observer's side is darker: in an office lit on both sides of the glass the effect practically disappears, and in the evening it can reverse.
So for internal glass walls and doors we recommend frosted film. We keep One Way Vision for external windows and shopfronts, where advertising visible from the street matters.
More options (clear printed films, decorative patterns) are on the frosted and decorative films page. You can complete your office signage with acrylic door signs in the same style.
