A roof and windows are investments made once every fifteen years or so, and customers usually don’t have “their” roofer or fitter. So they look around locally: who is roofing on the next street, who replaced the windows in the block next door, whose van is parked outside a house. Scaffolding on a roof stays up for weeks, high and in full view – branded mesh on that scaffolding is the biggest advert you can have, and it costs less than a month of classified ads.
Window and door companies usually also have a showroom. That is where the comparison with competitors happens: the customer looks at profiles, asks about specifications and takes a quote home. After installation, servicing comes up – adjusting hardware, seals, warranty. If the customer has your number on the window frame and in the brochure with their documents, they will call you, not the first company in the search results.
1. Roof, scaffolding, site
On scaffolding we use mesh, not an ordinary banner – it lets the wind through, so it doesn’t act like a sail at height. We fix it with cable ties through every eyelet or with pole pockets. On detached houses it is simpler to hang a banner on the fence, with the client’s consent. You take it away at handover and hang it on the next site.
- Branded scaffold mesh→Reinforced 370 g mesh, top and bottom pole pockets included: approx. €10–17 net per m². Visible from a distance and from several streets away.
- Contractor banner for the fence→“Roofing – coverings, gutters, roof windows” and your number. A 3 × 1 m coated banner is approx. €40 net.

2. Vans and crew
A roofer’s or window fitter’s van stands outside the house all day, or several days in a row. A short list of services and a big number read best on it. A crew on a roof is visible from the street – matching branded T-shirts mean people remember the company, not just “some roofers”.
- Van livery→Cast vinyl with UV print approx. €19–29 net per m² plus polymeric laminate approx. €8 net per m². Long windows and doors carried inside don’t get in the way of doing the sides.
- Magnetic signs for sales reps’ and surveyors’ cars→A surveyor driving a private car can be branded too. Magnetic sheet approx. €21–32 net per m².
- Branded T-shirts and sweatshirts→A4 print on T-shirts approx. €3.30 net each for 20–49 pcs, on a sweatshirt from approx. €4 net. On a roof in the heat you have to wear something anyway.
3. Window and door showroom
A showroom on a busy road has to be visible from a car, so a light box on the facade or large lettering on the window works well. Inside, order on the display floor counts: a short description by every window and door (profile, glazing, U-value, lead time) so the customer can compare before the salesperson comes over. Seasonal offers are best announced on the window in film that is easy to remove later.
- Showroom window graphics→Product range, offer, opening hours. Printed monomeric vinyl approx. €6–12 net per m², one-way vision film approx. €10–18 net per m² – from inside you can still see the street.
- Light box for the facade→Single-sided light box with acrylic face and LEDs from approx. €320 net per m². Visible in autumn and winter, when customers come by after work.
- Display labels and price cards→HIPS or PVC labels with the window’s specification and a “from” price. 0.8 mm HIPS with UV print approx. €16–24 net per m².
- Stickers for display window glass→A line about warm-edge spacers, safety glass or acoustic glazing, contour-cut and applied straight onto the display glass.
- Roll-up banner with your offer→Roll-up banner 100 × 200 cm from approx. €65 net. The seasonal graphic is swapped in the cassette, without buying a new stand.

4. After installation: service and warranty
After a window replacement the customer gets invoices, warranty cards and the manufacturer’s care instructions. If it is all loose papers, in three years nobody remembers who fitted them. Your own brochure with adjustment instructions and the service number, plus a small sticker on the frame where it can’t be seen with the window closed, means the customer calls you at the first problem.
- Service sticker for window or door frames→Logo, phone number, installation date. Small, contour-cut, applied to the frame on the hinge side.
- Brochure with care instructions and warranty terms→Saddle-stitched A5 booklet, 16 pages, 500 copies approx. €240 net. Seal care, hardware adjustment, service contact.
5. The quote and the sales rep
A quote for windows for a whole house or a new roof is a serious sum. The customer takes it home, compares it and comes back to it a few days later. A branded folder with a catalogue of your work and the rep’s business card inside help keep your quote from getting lost among three others.
- Project catalogue→Saddle-stitched A4 catalogue, 16 pages, 100 copies approx. €220 net. Local roofs, windows and doors, before and after.
- Presentation folders→A4 folder with matt lamination, 100 pcs approx. €135 net. Inside: the quote, drawings and product data sheets.
- Business cards for reps and surveyors→500 double-sided cards approx. €15 net. For several people, order in one job.

From our experience — what to watch out for
- Don’t hang an ordinary banner on roof scaffolding. Mesh lets through about 40% of the wind and doesn’t tug at the structure.
- Use big letters on mesh and banners: from the street, several metres up, only the name, one word about the service and the phone number get read.
- In the showroom, a description by every window makes the salesperson’s job easier. Customers compare on their own and come with specific questions.
- Put the service sticker on the frame on the hinge side, not on the glass. On glass the customer will scrape it off at the first clean.
- Do window promotions in printed film for a short period. An offer that has been out of date for six months looks worse than an empty window.
