A volunteer fire brigade is an association that works partly like a small institution and partly like a club. It has a building to sign, grant-funded equipment that has to be labelled as the agreement requires, and events: firefighting competitions, fêtes, a fire brigade day, a centenary. The budget is usually modest and pieced together from several sources (a municipal grant, donations, a local sponsor), so every euro counts and things need to last several years.
In our experience you usually come to us just before a ceremony, needing it yesterday. We print banners, roll-up banners and backdrops within 24 hours, but a hardback history book or competition trophies need more time. When marking emergency vehicles we follow the guidelines you give us; we never change the colour scheme or layout of the markings ourselves.
1. Fire station and grounds
Lettering on a fire station is seen from the road for decades, so it is better done properly once than repainted every three years. On listed buildings or in areas with design controls, the form of the lettering has to be approved; check local planning rules with the municipality before you order.
- ‘Volunteer Fire Brigade’ lettering on the façade→Dibond or acrylic letters from approx. €16 net per character at 30 cm high. On a large façade we go taller, at approx. €11 net extra per character for every additional 10 cm.
- Entrance sign with meeting times→Dibond with UV print, approx. €35–55 net per m². Brigade name, emblem, registration number, chairman’s contact details.
- Graphics in the clubroom or hall→A wall mural with the brigade’s history or a photo from a call-out. Non-woven mural with B-s1,d0 fire rating, approx. €15–25 net per m², useful when you hire the hall out for parties.

2. Grant-funded equipment and vehicles
A new fire engine, pump or uniforms bought with a grant usually have to carry information about the funding source. The design, size and position come from the agreement; send us the relevant extract and we will prepare a sign or stickers to match.
- Funding information sign→On the garage wall or by the station entrance. Dibond with UV print, small format, design according to the agreement.
- Fire engine lettering and stickers→Brigade name, call sign number, funding sticker. Cast vinyl, approx. €19–29 net per m², sits well over the body’s pressed panels.
3. Competitions, fêtes and fire brigade day
A local or regional competition means a dozen teams, judges, guests and photos for the local paper. It helps if there is a banner with the event name behind the podium, not just a random mesh fence. Make material without the year so it serves several editions.
- Banner behind the podium and on the pitch fence→A 3 × 1 m banner is 3 m²; at approx. €11 net per m² that is approx. €35 net. A larger 6 × 3 m banner is approx. €145 net (18 m² × approx. €8).
- Brigade gazebo→3 × 3 m with full print from approx. €750 net. For competitions, fêtes, a first-aid point, a calendar stall.
- Cups and trophies for competitions→A trophy shaped like a helmet, an axe or a fire engine, 3D-printed or laser-engraved acrylic. Priced from the model; printer time approx. €14 net per hour.
- Roll-up banner for training and demonstrations→An 85 × 200 cm roll-up banner from approx. €55 net. For school visits, carbon monoxide and smoke alarm campaigns, station open days.

4. Crew and youth team
Printed T-shirts are the cheapest way to make the crew and the youth fire team look like one team at competitions and in photos. Uniforms and firefighting kit have their own regulations; here we mean event and training clothing.
- T-shirts and hoodies with the brigade name→An A4 transfer print on a T-shirt is approx. €3.30 net for 20–49 pieces, approx. €1.90 net from 100. Printed hoodies from 20 pieces.
- Recruitment and campaign posters→10 A2 posters approx. €28 net. Youth team recruitment, fundraising appeals, carbon monoxide alarm campaigns.
- Recruitment banner on the station fence→A 2 × 1 m coated banner is 2 m² × approx. €13 = approx. €30 net. It hangs all year and says when you meet and who to call.
5. Calendars and anniversaries
In many villages the fire brigade calendar is a tradition and a real boost to the brigade’s budget. An anniversary is a chance to leave something lasting: a history book, a plaque, a photo gallery.
- Fire brigade wall calendar→Photos from call-outs and drills, emergency numbers, sponsors in the footer. Priced by format and print run; order the design in September and print in October.
- Brigade history book→An A5 hardback book, 164 pages, 100 copies, approx. €700 net. A keepsake for members, the municipality and donors.
- Backdrop for the ceremony→A 240 × 230 cm banner backdrop from approx. €210 net. The background for photos when medals and sponsor thank-yous are handed out.

From our experience — what to watch out for
- Make competition banners without the date or edition number. You can add the date on a separate strip for a few euros.
- For station lettering, send a straight-on photo of the façade and the wall dimensions. Without them it is hard to pick a letter height that reads from the road.
- Prepare funding stickers as soon as new equipment arrives. An inspection from the funding body can come sooner than you expect.
- Order enough calendars for door-to-door visits and community meetings. Reprinting a small batch in December costs more per copy.
- For an anniversary, order a backdrop with a neutral background and the brigade emblem. After the ceremony it stays on for photos at every competition.
