A local authority orders advertising differently from a business. It's rarely promotion in the strict sense – more often an obligation (a plaque for a funded project, a site board), order (council building signage, house numbers) or an event (a harvest festival, a community day, an anniversary). Orders go through requests for quotation, invoiced to a specific body, with a deadline set by the funding agreement. So you need a contractor who sends a quote with a specification, meets the date and installs the board in the ground themselves.
The second point is many things at once. Several investments in a year mean several plaques with different templates and dates; an outdoor event needs banners, a gazebo, a backdrop and zone signage in the same week. We produce such sets in-house from design to installation. On regulations (programme guidelines, highway authority consent, local planning rules) we describe only general principles – the agreement, guidelines and decisions of the relevant bodies are binding.
1. Investments and funded projects
Every project funded by the EU or national programmes has its own requirements for plaques and posters: size, logo order, display period. With several projects at once it pays to run them as one order; see our guide to [plaques for councils with multiple projects](/poradnik/tablice-dla-gminy-wiele-projektow).
- EU or grant-funded project plaque→Dibond with UV print on a galvanised frame, 200 × 100 cm from approx. €165 net. We design to the template in the agreement; for projects in Poland, templates can also be put together in the configurator at tablicedotacji.pl.
- Construction site board→For roads, sewerage, energy retrofits. 300 × 200 cm with legs from approx. €350 net; content as required for the works.
- Permanent plaque after the project→Required by some programmes once the investment is complete. Dibond or acrylic on stand-offs on the building wall.

2. Entry points and public space
A welcome sign is the first thing a visitor sees. On main roads the location must be agreed with the highway authority, and on trails in open country with the landowner.
- Roadside welcome sign→A totem with the coat of arms and the municipality name, dibond on a steel frame, 2.5 m high from approx. €750 net. Illuminated versions are quoted from the design.
- Information board with a map→In the town square, on a trail, on a nature walk. Dibond with UV print doesn't fade for years, and where vandalism is a risk we add anti-graffiti laminate.
- House number plates→A bulk order for residents to the design adopted by the council. Dibond with UV print, approx. €35–55 net per m², numbered from the address list.
3. Council building
A visitor to the council offices is looking for one room and usually doesn't know the name of the department. Good signage says 'council tax', 'ID documents', 'registry office', not just a number and the manager's name. It's best done as a system, starting with a survey.
- Council building wayfinding system→A directory at the entrance, floor directional signs, pictograms. Survey from approx. €85 net, refunded with the production order.
- Room door signs→Permanent room number, department name and staff names on a changeable insert. Staff changes don't mean new signs.
- Flags with the coat of arms→A 150 × 90 cm flagpole flag, hemmed, with snap hooks, approx. €45 net. Outdoor flags fade – order a spare set.

4. Harvest festivals, community days, fairs
Local events have fixed dates, yet orders still arrive a week before. We print banners and backdrops on express, but order a printed gazebo and large structures in advance. What event signage covers is explained in our [guide to outdoor event signage](/poradnik/oznakowanie-imprezy-plenerowej).
- Stage and fence banners→A 6 × 3 m banner behind the stage is 18 m², approx. €8 net per m² at that quantity, so approx. €144 net. Undated banners can be reused in later years.
- Printed council gazebo→For fairs, markets, an information point. 3 × 3 m with full print from approx. €750 net; lasts several seasons.
- Backdrop for photos and press conferences→For council sessions, press conferences, signing an investment agreement. A 240 × 230 cm banner wall from approx. €210 net.
- Gifts for guests and anniversaries→Sets with the coat of arms for delegations, golden wedding couples, competition winners. An engraved boxed set from approx. €6 net at 50 pcs.
5. Print for residents
Councils communicate with residents on paper more often than you'd think: waste collection calendars, newsletters, information guides, tourist maps. We print all of it and can help with layout.
- Council newsletter or bulletin→An 8-page A4 newsletter, 1,000 copies, costs approx. €280 net. We print on a regular schedule, according to the publication calendar.
- Waste collection calendars and information guides→A folded leaflet for every household. An A5 folder in a run of 1,000 costs approx. €90 net, cheaper per copy in larger runs.
- Tourist map of the area→A folded map with cycle routes and attractions, for tourists and the information point. Quoted by format and number of folds.

From our experience — what to watch out for
- For EU plaques, send us the relevant section of the agreement with the requirements straight away. Most corrections come from an outdated set of logos.
- Plan for concreting the legs of a ground-mounted board. Put up hastily in soft ground, it leans after the first winter.
- Make banners for annual events without a date or edition number. Next time you only reprint a strip with the date.
- In council building signage, use the names of services, not just department names. Visitors look for 'register an address', not 'civil affairs section'.
- With several investments at once, order the plaques as one job with an installation schedule. The crew comes once, not five times.
