A photographer sells images, so their own advertising is judged more harshly than other service providers’. A roll-up banner with a blurry photo or a faded sign does more harm than having none at all. Clients come mainly through recommendations and online, and a studio is more often a place for shoots than a shop with passing trade. So a few things pay off the most: clear signage so clients find the shoot without phoning, good prints on the walls that show your work, and something the client takes home when collecting the photos.
The other side of working with us is printing for resale. Many photographers earn extra on prints: a canvas for the living room, a large photo on aluminium composite, a family calendar. We print it in-house and, on request, pack it in neutral packaging and send it by courier straight to your client. Before the first batch we recommend a test print; more in our guide [brand colours in print and proofing](/poradnik/dopasowanie-koloru-pantone-proof).
1. Entrance, sign and window
A studio is very often upstairs, in a courtyard or in part of an industrial unit. A client coming for the first time is running late and rings to ask where to go in. A sign at the gate and a plaque on the door solve that once and for all. If you have a ground-floor window, cover it so the name can be seen from the street but passers-by cannot look in; for family, maternity or boudoir shoots that is essential.
- Sign or board at the gate→3 mm aluminium composite with UV print, approx. €35–55 net per m². Lasts for years outdoors and needs no power.
- Door plaque and arrow in the stairwell→A small thing that saves phone calls before every shoot. Made from the same material as the sign, so everything looks consistent.
- Frosted film on the window→Daylight still comes in, but nobody can see from the street who is posing. We can cut your logo into the film or print it.
- LED neon with your name or a slogan→For a studio wall or the window. It photographs well and clients like taking pictures with it for social media. Up to 60 × 40 cm from approx. €210 net.

2. Studio interior and backdrops
Clients judge a photographer by what hangs on the walls in the waiting area. Two or three large prints do more than a portfolio on a tablet. A wall mural can also serve as a permanent backdrop for shoots; choose a matt finish then, because gloss creates reflections under studio lights.
- Wall mural as a backdrop or waiting-area wall→Smooth non-woven wallpaper approx. €15–25 net per m², no odour after hanging. You can change the backdrop every season without painting.
- Photos on aluminium composite or acrylic→UV printed directly onto the panel, no frame. Acrylic gives depth, aluminium composite is lighter and matt. Good for displaying your portfolio and for sale.
- Large canvas in the consultation area→Shows clients how their photo will look on the wall. The simplest way to sell a print together with a session.
3. Prints you sell to clients
This is where you earn from your photos a second time. We make canvases, photo paper prints and calendars from your files, in any format. On canvas leave a margin for wrapping around the frame and do not crop faces right at the edge: once stretched, that strip ends up on the side of the frame.
- Canvas prints on stretcher frames→UV print on canvas approx. €15–24 net per m², stretching on a pine frame approx. €27 net per m². Fine art pigment print approx. €60 net per m².
- Prints on photo paper→Pigment prints up to 111 cm wide, approx. €47 net per m². For exhibitions, for framing, as a present for the family.
- Calendar from session photos→Family, corporate or pet calendars. They sell well in autumn as an add-on to a Christmas session.

4. Photo handover, vouchers and referrals
Handing over the photos is the best moment for clients to remember your name and pass it on. A branded USB stick in a nice box stays in a drawer for years. A session voucher is a ready-made present clients will buy from you before Christmas or Mother’s Day.
- Branded USB stick for photos→16 GB with your logo printed, from approx. €5 net each at 100 pcs. The client has the photos and your contact details in one.
- Box for prints and USB stick→Printed shaped box, 100 pcs approx. €210 net. Instead of an envelope, you hand over the photos like a gift.
- Session vouchers→Numbered, on heavy paper, with finishing if you like. We match the format and quantity to your idea and quote individually.
- Business cards→Put two in every package of photos: one the client keeps, the other they give to friends. 500 double-sided cards on 350 g silk are approx. €15 net.
5. Wedding fairs, outdoor shoots and events
Wedding fairs take place mainly in winter and early spring, so order your material in November. On a stand one large photo works better than a collage of twenty small ones. The same backdrop will later serve as a photo booth background at weddings and corporate events.
- Roll-up banner with one strong photo→85 × 200 cm with graphic and bag from approx. €55 net. Fits in the boot together with your kit.
- Photo backdrop and photo booth wall→240 × 230 cm banner backdrop from approx. €210 net, a new graphic alone approx. €105 net. You swap the graphic for a specific couple or company.

From our experience — what to watch out for
- Before a batch of canvases or prints for clients, order an A3 test print on the final material (approx. €13 net). Skin tones on screen and in print can differ a lot.
- Send files at full resolution, ideally TIFF or maximum-quality JPG. A photo sent through a messaging app is usually downsized and will look soft at large format.
- For canvas you do not need 300 dpi at 1:1 scale; viewed from a distance, less is enough. Details in our guide to [resolution for large-format print](/poradnik/rozdzielczosc-do-druku-wielkoformatowego).
- Order vouchers in early November and in April. In December and before Mother’s Day everyone prints at once, and a voucher handed over after the event achieves nothing.
- On the sign for a courtyard studio add how to get in. The name alone will not help a client standing in front of three gates.
