Signage and decoration for nurseries and toddler clubs

For nurseries and toddler clubs we make a sign or 3D letters, a name board on the fence, enrolment banners, plaques for funded programmes, wall murals and stickers for rooms, floor graphics, picture signs, children's symbol stickers for lockers and shoe bags. Non-illuminated 30 cm letters cost from approx. €16 net per character, a certified non-woven wall mural approx. €15–25 net per m², a 200 × 100 cm grant plaque on a frame from approx. €165 net.

A nursery has two clients at once. The child, who should feel safe here and find their own peg, their own cot and their own room before they can read. And the parent, who in the morning rush has to find the right entrance quickly, park the buggy and pick up information from the noticeboard. So nursery signage relies on pictures and colours, and the words are for the adults.

Many nurseries and toddler clubs are built or extended with government and EU programmes (in Poland, for example, Maluch+). Then a mandatory project plaque or poster comes in – its template and display period are set by the funding agreement. Council-run settings often buy through public procurement; private ones usually order directly. Also remember fire safety requirements for wall finishes, especially on escape routes – before a large corridor decoration, ask a fire safety specialist or the building designer. For rooms we choose certified materials that are odour-free after installation.

1. Fence, gate and entrance

Parents often see the nursery for the first time over the fence, while pushing a buggy round the neighbourhood. Colourful letters and a proper board by the gate make the first impression, and a banner during enrolment brings in new children.

  • 3D name letters on the facade→Colourful PVC or dibond letters, 30 cm high from approx. €16 net per character. Visible from afar, and children learn their first letters from them.
  • Name and hours board by the gate→Name, opening hours, phone, entrance number. UV-printed dibond approx. €35–55 net per m², lasts years outdoors.
  • Enrolment banner on the fence→Hangs during enrolment, then goes into storage for next year. Coated 510 g banner approx. €7–13 net per m², eyelets included.
  • Funded programme plaque→Dibond 200 × 100 cm on a frame from approx. €165 net. We design to the template in the agreement; for projects in Poland, ready templates are also in the tablicedotacji.pl configurator.
  • Buggy parking and parent entrance signs→A small sign with an arrow and a buggy pictogram. In the morning nobody leaves a buggy in the middle of the corridor.

2. Rooms and corridors

Each room can have its own theme and colour: Ladybirds, Bears, Frogs. The same symbol on the door, the wall and the pegs lets a two-year-old find their own room on their own. On walls and floors we use materials that can be washed.

  • Room-themed wall murals→Forest, meadow, sea, animals. Non-woven wallpaper with fire reaction class B-s1,d0, odour-free after hanging – the room can be used straight away. Approx. €15–25 net per m².
  • Wall stickers and height chart→Contour-cut animals, trees, clouds. Vinyl approx. €6–12 net per m², easy to add more without repainting.
  • Floor games and trails→Footprints to the bathroom, hopscotch, colourful circles for circle time. Vinyl with R10 anti-slip laminate approx. €19–30 net per m².
  • Glazing manifestation→A band of film with a cheerful motif at child and adult height, so nobody runs into the glass. On street-facing windows frosted film also gives privacy. Approx. €12–21 net per m².
  • Room signs with a picture→A large animal picture plus the group name. PVC or acrylic, rounded corners, fixed at adult eye level.

3. Cloakroom and bathroom – children's symbols

Every child at nursery has their own symbol: an apple, a puppy, a car. The same picture is on the locker, the peg, the cup, the towel and the cot. It's the simplest and most underrated element of signage.

  • Sheets of symbol stickers→A set of symbols for each child in several sizes, on washable vinyl. Vinyl approx. €6–12 net per m² plus contour kiss-cutting approx. €1.20 net per linear metre.
  • Shoe and clothes bags→Cotton, with the nursery logo and space for the child's symbol or name. 100 cotton bags with a 1-colour print from approx. €210 net.

4. Parents and enrolment

Parents choose a nursery over a few weeks, usually in spring. A factual leaflet and a well-presented open day say more about a setting than the prettiest photos online.

From our experience — what to watch out for

  • Pictures for children, words for adults. A room sign without a big picture is invisible to a two-year-old.
  • Order spare symbol stickers. New children join during the year, and symbols on cups and towels wear off faster than you'd think.
  • Choose a calm, light wall mural. Strong, busy patterns tire the eyes, and the room is also used for naps.
  • Hang the enrolment banner on the fence a few weeks before enrolment, not during it. Parents decide earlier than they submit the paperwork.
  • Before decorating a corridor, ask about fire safety requirements for escape routes. A painted wall with a few stickers is different from wallpaper along its whole length.

FAQ · Nursery and toddler club

Frequently asked questions

What materials are suitable for nursery rooms?

Non-woven wallpaper with fire reaction class B-s1,d0, odour-free after hanging, and vinyl stickers that can be wiped with a damp cloth. On the floor only vinyl with R10 anti-slip laminate. Requirements for a specific building are decided by the designer or a fire safety specialist.

Can you make a plaque for a funded project?

Yes, to the template in the funding agreement – just send us the logos and wording. For Polish projects the requirements and sizes are described in [EU plaque requirements](/poradnik/tablica-unijna-wymagania), and how long the plaque must be displayed in a separate [guide](/poradnik/jak-dlugo-wisi-tablica-unijna).

Can a council-run nursery order from you through a tender?

Yes. We price the scope for the cost estimate and submit bids in procedures. The procedure depends on the contract value and the contracting authority's rules – the council decides.

Does installation disturb the children?

We install after nursery hours or at weekends. Wall murals and film need no airing, so on Monday the room is ready. A crew costs from approx. €42 net per hour plus travel.

How much do branded shoe bags cost?

100 cotton bags with a 1-colour print cost from approx. €210 net. We add the child's name separately or leave a field to fill in with a marker.
