A joinery workshop is often on the edge of town or out in the country, down a side road, and customers find it by recommendation. Bespoke furniture is sold through photos and conversation: the customer wants to see what you have made, touch the samples and feel they know who they are dealing with. A sign at the gate, a catalogue of your work and a well-presented quote do more here than an ad in the paper.
There is another side too – the workshop as our partner. We have direct UV printing on boards, a laser and a CNC router, so we can print your fronts for a child’s bedroom, engrave a logo on a worktop or cut unusual acrylic parts for a shop fit-out. That opens up jobs the workshop would not take on alone.
1. Workshop by the road
A customer coming for the first time is following the satnav. A sign at the gate and a banner on the fence confirm they have arrived, and everyone driving past sees them too. If the workshop is on a busy road, say plainly what you make: kitchens, wardrobes, staircases. A company name alone tells nothing to someone who doesn’t know you.
- Company sign at the gate→3 mm aluminium composite panel (Dibond) with UV print, approx. €35–55 net per m². It doesn’t rust and lasts years on a post or fence.
- Banner on the workshop fence→“Bespoke furniture – kitchens, wardrobes, fitted units” and your number. A 4 × 1 m coated banner is 4 m² × approx. €13, so approx. €55 net.
- 3D logo for the building→Letters and logo in Dibond or acrylic on stand-offs, from approx. €16 net per character. On a joinery building, plywood elements look good too.

2. Van and installation at the customer’s
Fitting a kitchen takes a day or two, and the van stands outside the customer’s house all that time. The neighbours see who delivered the furniture. On the sides, the name, “bespoke furniture” and a phone number are enough. A fitting crew in branded T-shirts is a small thing the customer notices when letting people into a freshly finished home.
- Van livery→Cast vinyl with UV print approx. €19–29 net per m², polymeric laminate approx. €8 net per m². On a box body or tarpaulin the graphic is fixed differently from sheet metal – tell us what vehicle you have.
- T-shirts and sweatshirts for fitters→A4 print on T-shirts approx. €3.30 net each for 20–49 pcs. On a sweatshirt from approx. €4 net.
3. Your signature on the furniture
Bespoke furniture lasts fifteen years or more. If your logo is inside a drawer or on the side of a carcass, years later the customer or the next owner of the home knows who to call. Laser engraving looks best – subtle, permanent, and no sticker to peel off.
- Laser-engraved logo on wood and board→Surface engraving is approx. €0.55 net per dm²; for runs from 100 pcs marking starts at approx. €0.25 net each. We engrave parts you bring in.
- Warranty and service stickers for inside cabinets→A small sticker with your logo, phone number and fitting date. A sheet of several dozen lasts a long time.

4. Selling: your work and the design
Customers usually compare several workshops. When you bring the design with a visualisation in a folder and leave a catalogue of your kitchens, it is easier for them to choose you, even if you aren’t the cheapest. The catalogue doesn’t need to be thick – 16 pages of well-photographed jobs is enough.
- Project catalogue→Saddle-stitched A4 catalogue, 16 pages, 170 gsm matt: 100 copies approx. €220 net. Photos of kitchens, wardrobes, staircases – ideally once fitted, in daylight.
- Folders for design and quote→A4 folder with matt lamination: 100 pcs approx. €135 net. Inside: the visualisation, the quote and a colour sample card.
- Business cards→500 double-sided cards on 350 gsm silk approx. €15 net.
5. Showroom and display
If you have a small showroom with a sample kitchen and swatches, take care of the backdrop and labels. A full-wall photo behind the display sets the scene, and short labels by the samples answer questions before the customer asks them.
- Wall mural behind the display→A garden view, an interior with one of your kitchens, or a wood texture. Non-woven wall mural approx. €15–25 net per m².
- Labels for samples and fittings→Material, type of hinge or runner, lead time. 3 mm printed foam PVC is approx. €21–33 net per m²; acrylic on stand-offs looks more elegant.
6. Services for joinery workshops
This is something joiners’ customers usually don’t know: we can take on part of the production that doesn’t pay to do in the workshop. We UV print directly onto boards you supply (with primer if the surface is absorbent) CNC-route and laser-cut plastics, and 3D print small parts.
- UV printing on your fronts, panels and boards→Fronts for a child’s bedroom, wall panels with graphics, printed worktops. Printing on supplied wood, plywood and MDF approx. €18–27 net per m², material up to 50 mm thick.
- CNC routing of acrylic, PVC and Dibond→Furniture inserts, covers, shopfitting parts. 2D cutting in material up to 10 mm approx. €2.80 net per metre of tool path.
- 3D printing of unusual parts→Handles, caps, guides in short runs, or a prototype before you order from a factory. Machine time approx. €14 net per hour plus material.

From our experience — what to watch out for
- Before ordering print on a whole series of fronts, bring one offcut of the same board. Different laminates and lacquers take ink differently, and a test costs less than a ruined front.
- Send the logo for engraving as a vector file. From a blurry JPG the laser will burn blurry edges.
- Take catalogue photos after cleaning up, in daylight, with the protective film off the fronts. Customers look at the details: gaps, edges, the fit against the wall.
- On the roadside sign, say what you make, not just your name. “Smith Joinery” says less than “Bespoke fitted kitchens”.
- Put the warranty sticker where the customer looks when a hinge fails – inside the door, not on the back panel.
