Advertising and signage for laundries, tailors and cobblers

For laundries, dry cleaners, tailors and cobblers we make signage that helps people find a small shop in an archway or parade: a double-sided projecting sign (from approx. €300 net), an A-board with a poster, a price list on the window or on acrylic, and for daily work, numbered tickets and tags, branded poly garment covers and laundry bags, instruction stickers for self-service machines, loyalty cards, leaflets and fridge magnets with your phone number.

A laundry, tailor or cobbler is usually a small unit in an archway, on the ground floor of a block of flats or in a parade, and easy to miss. Customers come when they have a problem (trousers to take up, a suit for a wedding, a sole to replace) and look for the nearest place. If they cannot see you from the pavement, they go where they can see a sign. So in this trade what matters most is visibility from the street and clear information on what you do and what it costs.

The second thing is organisation. Every job is somebody’s belongings that have to be returned without a mix-up: a numbered ticket for the customer, the same number on the tag on the garment, a collection date. Proper printed tickets and tags look professional and save stress at the counter. Well-made small items (a branded garment cover, a laundry bag, a fridge magnet) make customers come back and recommend you to the neighbours.

1. From the street

A flat sign above the door can only be seen from across the road. Passers-by walk along the wall, so for small shops a projecting sign works best: at right angles to the facade and legible from both directions. If the shop is in a courtyard or upstairs, an A-board by the entrance and an arrow on the wall are a must, otherwise customers simply will not find you.

2. Window and price list

Customers want to know before they walk in: can you do what they need, how much it costs and when it will be ready. A short price list of the most common jobs in the window (taking up trousers, replacing a zip, cleaning a suit, washing a duvet, heel tips) works better than the words “tailoring services”. Inside, a full price list on acrylic instead of a sheet of paper on tape.

3. Taking in and handing back

The customer’s ticket and the tag on the garment should carry the same number, printed rather than written in biro. For laundries we print tags on synthetic paper that does not go soggy in the damp. A branded poly cover over a collected suit is the last thing the customer sees, and what they carry through the neighbourhood.

  • Numbered job tickets in pads→A part for the customer and a part for you, with the same number, space for the collection date and a description of the job. Priced by design and quantity.
  • Numbered garment tags→On synthetic paper or card, with a hole for a safety pin or string. Numbering matches the tickets, so nothing gets mixed up at collection.
  • Branded poly garment covers→For suits, dresses and coats after cleaning. Film printed with your name and phone number, priced by size and quantity.
  • Branded laundry bags→For regulars and businesses that send laundry regularly. Priced by size; for comparison, 100 printed cotton bags start at approx. €210 net.

4. Self-service launderette

A launderette is often unstaffed, so the signage has to explain everything: how to start the machine, what a cycle costs, where the detergent goes, how to pay, what to do if something breaks down. Stickers on the machines must cope with damp, heat and wiping, so they are always laminated.

5. Regulars and the neighbourhood

Laundries and tailors live off the surrounding streets. A letterbox leaflet with prices and home collection details, a fridge magnet with your number and a stamp card offering “tenth wash free” do more than online advertising aimed at the whole city.

From our experience — what to watch out for

  • If you are in a courtyard or upstairs, start with an A-board and a sign in the archway, and only then think about a fascia. The customer has to find the door first.
  • List specific jobs and prices in the window, not generic “tailoring services”. People are looking to solve a specific problem.
  • Order tickets and tags with printed numbering. Writing numbers by hand is the most common cause of mix-ups when handing garments back.
  • Always laminate machine stickers. Without it, fingers and damp will wear the instructions off within months.
  • Order small print items together in one order. Cards, magnets and leaflets ordered separately often do not reach the minimum order value.

FAQ · Laundry, dry cleaner, tailor, cobbler

Frequently asked questions

Projecting sign or fascia above the door: which is better for a small shop?

For a unit in a terrace or parade, usually a projecting sign, because it can be seen from the pavement in both directions. A flat sign above the door can only be read from across the road. An illuminated double-sided projecting sign starts at approx. €300 net.

Can you print numbered tickets in pads?

Yes, we print tickets with sequential numbering, with a part for the customer and a part for the shop, glued into pads. Tags with the same numbers can be added to the set. Priced by design, format and quantity.

How do we get local residents to use our laundry?

What works best is a letterbox leaflet with prices, a fridge magnet and a stamp card for repeat jobs. More ideas in our guide [local marketing for a small business](/poradnik/marketing-lokalny-mala-firma).

Will stickers on washing machines stand up to damp?

Yes, if they are laminated. We UV-print on vinyl and cover it with a laminate that protects against water, cleaning products and abrasion.
