Advertising for driving schools and language schools

For driving schools we brand training cars, make magnets, banners for the training ground and gift vouchers for courses. For language schools – window graphics, a light box, classroom wall graphics, course certificates and course books. For both we make leaflets, roll-ups and feather flags for enrolment. Branding the doors and rear of one car costs approx. €74 net in materials, a feather flag from approx. €75 net, 1,000 folded leaflets approx. €90 net.

Driving schools and language schools are different businesses, but their advertising works in a similar way. Customers choose once, for several months, and usually at a specific time of year: before the summer, in September, around their seventeenth or eighteenth birthday. So what works best is what people see every day – a training car on the town's streets, a window passed on the way to school, a leaflet brought home from sixth form.

In a driving school the car does most of the work. A learner drives it round town for dozens of hours, and every driver behind reads the school name and phone number. In a language school the interior and the paperwork matter more: classrooms people want to sit in, and a certificate the student will show their parents or employer. Below we set out what you can order from us – separately where the needs differ.

1. Training cars and the training ground

The learner vehicle marking (L-plate) must meet legal requirements, so we leave room for it on the doors and tailgate and design the advertising around it. The vinyl must not cover mirrors, lights or the driver's field of view.

  • Door and rear branding→School name, phone, website. Cast vinyl with laminate withstands car washes and winter, and comes off the paint without a trace when the car is sold.
  • Magnets for instructors' cars→When an instructor uses their own car. 0.6 mm magnetic sheet, approx. €21–32 net per m², off after lessons.
  • Banner for the training ground fence→The training ground is usually by a road and seen by many people. A 4 × 1 m banner costs approx. €52 net; on a mesh fence take a black-back banner.

2. Premises and window

A driving school office or language school is often in a unit with a window on the main street. The window is free advertising space – a shame to leave the glass bare.

  • Window graphics→Course prices, next start dates, a QR code for enrolment. Monomeric vinyl approx. €6–12 net per m², easy to change for each intake.
  • Light box over the entrance→Language classes run into the evening, so an illuminated name works from 4 pm in autumn and winter. From approx. €320 net per m².
  • Office hours and enrolment on the door→Cut vinyl lettering: hours, phone, 'enrolment open from…'. Students also come by when the office is closed and should know when to return.

3. Lecture room and classrooms

In a driving school the room is for theory lessons; in a language school it's daily work. Bare walls are tiring. One wall graphic changes how a room feels more than new chairs.

  • Classroom wall graphics→A world map, a city scene from the country whose language you teach, road signs in the theory room. Wall stickers approx. €6–12 net per m².
  • Teaching posters→Tenses, irregular verbs, priority at junctions. Ten A2 posters cost approx. €28 net.
  • Course books and materials→The school's own materials instead of photocopies. An A5 booklet, 16 pages, 500 copies costs approx. €240 net.

4. Enrolment: September, school holidays, summer

Sign-ups come in waves. Order enrolment materials 3–4 weeks ahead, so leaflets reach secondary schools before students decide elsewhere.

5. For students

A student who gets a keepsake is more likely to recommend the school to friends. And driving lessons and language courses are popular gifts – worth taking advantage of.

  • Gift vouchers for courses→Driving lessons for an eighteenth birthday, a language course for Christmas. A numbered voucher with an envelope looks like a present, not an invoice.
  • Course completion certificates→In a language school this is an important document for the student. We print on heavy card, numbered, with space for a signature.
  • Branded pens and notepads→For the first lesson and the internal exam. Pens at 500 pcs from approx. €0.35 net, A5 notepads from approx. €1.85 net.

From our experience — what to watch out for

  • On a training car make the phone number much bigger than the web address. The driver behind will remember the number at the lights; the URL, probably not.
  • Don't cover the rear window with solid vinyl. If you want advertising there, use perforated One Way Vision only, and in line with visibility rules.
  • Design the window for an intake, not for ever. Cheaper vinyl changed twice a year works better than an expensive graphic that hangs for five years.
  • Take leaflets to secondary schools at the start of term. By late June students are thinking about the holidays.
  • Number certificates and vouchers. It's then easier to check which have been used and who came by recommendation.

FAQ · Driving school and language school

Frequently asked questions

How much does branding a learner car cost?

Printed cast vinyl is approx. €19–29 net per m², laminate approx. €8 net per m². Doors and rear are usually about 2 m², so approx. €74 net in materials. More on what can be branded in our guide to [branding a company car](/poradnik/oklejanie-samochodu-firmowego).

Won't advertising on the car clash with the L-plate?

No, as long as the design leaves free space for the L-plate where it has to be mounted. The requirements for marking a learner vehicle are set by law – if in doubt, check them with your national driving licence or vehicle authority.

Magnet or vinyl for instructors' cars?

If the car is private and also used outside work – a magnet. If it's a school car – vinyl, because it won't go missing, won't come off at speed and looks better. Take magnets off before an automatic car wash.

Which roll-up for education fairs?

Most often 85 × 200 cm or 100 × 200 cm, from approx. €55–65 net. If you go to many fairs, consider a version with a replaceable cassette. Comparison in [which roll-up to choose](/poradnik/jaki-roll-up-wybrac).

How quickly can you make leaflets for an intake?

Standard turnaround is about 3 working days from design approval, 24-hour express for urgent jobs. If you don't have a design, our studio will make one.
